itโ€™s easy to get wrapped up in what weโ€™re not grateful for. and the practice is funny like that, because it can get enveloped in a fire of wanting and desire. this time of year is meant to be about the intangible gift of gratitude. make your life less about items we hold in our hands and more about the sincere thankfulness of life and love and family and friends, and everything else we already have. it is enough.

the power social media has to impact us is more clear than ever. and with instagrammers posting so many #ads, i can't help but feel disappointed when someone i admire ends up promoting a company with terrible standards. how refreshing though to be reminded of amazing people out there who still value local businesses, true wellness, fair trade and ethical products, and overall integrity. take a stand yourself! be proactive about your support of social media because it's contributing to more than you know. integrity>followers. thanks @tallulahalexandra for being someone i actually admire, and for your great #glutenfree #dairyfree pumpkin bread #recipe which i adapted based on the contents of my pantry๐Ÿ’›: 1- set oven to bake 350
2- whisk together, in this order:
* 1/4 cup olive oil * 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
* 3 eggs (pasture raised, local, duh)
* 1 1/2 cup brown rice flour
* 1/4 cup flax seed
* 1 can pumpkin purรฉe (I used @traderjoes)
* 2 tsp cinnamon * 2 tsp cardamom * 2 tsp nutmeg
* 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut
* 2 tsp baking soda
* 1 tsp sea salt
pour batter into loaf pan (I used a Pyrex glass Bc we got it via our registry)

3- top with: raw pumpkin seeds and shredded coconut

10/29 7pm #cybloomfield donate: in 1999, my mom told us there was a small grape in her breast, it was no big deal, she'd be fine. not to worry. she went through a long round of chemo, two tough surgeries, and recovered. last year, after we got engaged, it came back, and she didn't want to tell me and "ruin a happy time". that's the kind of selfless human she is. this was a woman who was told she would have a 25% chance of making it the first time, and now she must fight again. another two surgeries, trips to Ann Arbor for chemo, and a disappointing reality she had to face again. 
she faced it even when she couldn't bear it. she walked down the wedding aisle with a short haircut she never asked for. she made dinner for our families and friends with great smiles you could not see through. she took great care of our family and never asked for anything in return. she's recovering with humility and modesty. 
there are so many women and their families who need support. i am proud of the person who brought me to life, but the battle is not over. because it changes your soul. it challenges your being and your belief in yourself. thank you to @citizenyoga for being a space where my mom and so many others find confidence again and rediscover their happiness and self worth - the journey will continue on.

* 1 cup almond butter * 1/2 cup local honey
* Two local eggs
* 1 tbs baking powder
* Dash of sea salt
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1 cup chocolate chips
* 3/4 cup shredded coconut
* make into cookie balls and the place on a tray with parchment paper * bake at 350 for 12 minutes or until clean toothpick

finally it's cold and we can eat the heartiest, warmest foods while wearing cozy sweaters!!! enter this magical dish: foul (pronounced more like FOOL) is my favorite egyptian dish - (@neybean 's mom makes the absolute best). it's typically served for breakfast with eggs+bread, but i see it as an all day all meals basically any time of day dish. @jblurz and i had it for #dinner with spinach and brown rice...also it's #vegan #glutenfree and #delicious. here you go! #recipe: - soak 2 cups fava beans overnight + rinse
- boil beans w 3 cups water + eeoo + salt
- add three cloves minced garlic - mix in dashes of cumin + black pepper
- boil until beans soft and mush w ๐Ÿฅ„ - add cup of fresh chopped parsley - (make brown rice on the side)
- (dice up ๐Ÿ… + onion + spinach)
- put all together! eat it all!!!
