⭐️to be unselfish is to ask the world: what service can i offer? it is rooting your actions in the offering to others instead of pleasing the desires of your mind. ⭐️for me, unselfishness is about relearning again and again. questioning and refining my actions toward a higher ideal, particularly in relationships. i don't pretend to be unselfish. the mind's desires will continue to flourish, but may we always return to the practice of higher. as we work to become unselfish to those closest to us, one day may we each extend our unselfishness to all living beings. πŸ™πŸΎthank you @iamcitizenyoga for bringing me to a thoughtful lecture on Vedanta by renowned philosopher S.Parthasarathy. #tbt to my partner, my number one unit, i hope each day to be more and more unselfish for you πŸ’•@jblurz. πŸ“·:@northernnativephotography

finally it's cold and we can eat the heartiest, warmest foods while wearing cozy sweaters!!! enter this magical dish: foul (pronounced more like FOOL) is my favorite egyptian dish - (@neybean 's mom makes the absolute best). it's typically served for breakfast with eggs+bread, but i see it as an all day all meals basically any time of day dish. @jblurz and i had it for #dinner with spinach and brown rice...also it's #vegan #glutenfree and #delicious. here you go! #recipe: - soak 2 cups fava beans overnight + rinse
- boil beans w 3 cups water + eeoo + salt
- add three cloves minced garlic - mix in dashes of cumin + black pepper
- boil until beans soft and mush w πŸ₯„ - add cup of fresh chopped parsley - (make brown rice on the side)

FIRST: sautΓ© w sesame oil: 1 inch ginger + 1 shallot + salt
SECOND: add a heaping tbs of red curry paste + can of coconut milk and stir well until it becomes a nice red sauce
NEXT: add your veggies (i did broccoli + baby indian eggplanties + bok choy) and a little water if needed
LASTLY: cook on low for 15 min, spoon into bowl, add sambal sauce (obvi optional but duh) and eat!!!!!!

detox bowls for lunch!! i've been feeling heavy this week (full moon?) and this bowl is comforting, hearty, tangy, anti-inflammatory, high in vitamin c, yada yada yada...it's delicious. it helps that it's also the easiest meal prep ever, and #vegan+#glutenfree. read below for my #recipe... (#ontheblog coming soon!!). i topped my bowl with my new obsession- @pinchofyum INSANELY magical green sauce... 😍 p.s. who can spot the πŸŒ™ doggie paw? ❀ ***curried stewed beans: ~ chop + sautΓ© 1 yellow onion, 1 inch fresh ginger, 2 cloves garlic with olive oil. ~ add 2tbs turmeric+2 tbs madras curry powder+plenty of salt. cook+stir on low. ~ add 2 cups chick peas+2cups white beans+ 1/2 cup water. ~ keep on low, stir often, 30 minutes. ***prepare in separate containers: 1 cup cooked quinoa, 1 cucumber sliced, 2 cups colorful cherry tomatoes, chopped lacinato kale, 3 ripe avocados. ***
