Had a lot of negative thoughts on my run today.
4 months ago I ran my first marathon and felt so unstoppable. It was probably the proudest of myself I've ever been because it was so so hard.
I cried twice, peed my pants once, and my "you're a badass" mantra turned into a gasping "okay". But beyond all that, it was a time where I could run a quick 20km without a thought, and called a 10k 'going out for a short run'. So it's a real stab at my ego to struggle through an 8k today.
And I think we all do this, at some level, on a daily basis. This toxic routine of comparing ourselves to others (or to our former selves!!) can stop us from actually appreciating what our bodies and minds can do.
It's a bullshit cycle but I'm giving myself some love for recognizing it within myself today, because working on shifting my thoughts is often a daily task.
And hey! That's okay ✨
Yesterday was a really really great day.
Hiked a 13km loop of the Bruce Trail up near Blue Mountain with @evanbonddesign .
We hiked, snacked on homemade veg burgers, hummus, honey crisps and energy balls, and then we stopped in for flights at @royalcitybrew as the sun went down.
Everything was perfect.
Self care is taking a day off to go on an adventure and drink beers if you ask me 🤘🏼
MOVE WITH ME MONDAY!
Buying my dearest bike, Juniper, started out as a 'I don't have a car but need to get from A to B' thing, but now I'm so attached to her that I wouldn't have it any other way.
Seriously. If my house was on fire and I could only take one thing, I would be wearing my Aussie overalls and riding out of the house on my bike (it counts as one!).
So this Move With Me Monday is a bike commute edition, because even if it's a necessity you can still give yourself a high-five for getting in a little movement on your way to work.
So where are my fellow bike commuters at 🙋🏼 And how did you choose to move today!?
It's everyone's favourite 👨🏻's birthday today!
This man pushes me more than anyone else and has made me ridiculously competitive as a result.
He's the king of pep talks (positive and negative), believes that a messy room means a messy life and sleeping in past 10am is laziness (teenage Michelle hated this). I might not always understand you, but you're my biggest fan and the most supportive dad, and I love that you ran (200m of) a marathon with me ❤️🎉
MOVE WITH ME MONDAY!
Whether it's going for a run, biking to work, walking your dog, lifting heavy things, doing some yoga, dancing in your kitchen, hula hooping, walking to a coffee shop, or WHATEVER. Use Monday to spend some time loving on yourself through movement!
I think it's easy to have skewed expectations about exercise by thinking it has to be extreme, long or painful to be worth it. But carving out just a bit of time each day to move however you feel can boost your mood, get you sweating (especially this past weekend!) and be the start to sometime bigger!
Listen to your body and do as much or as little as you feel! Today I ran 3.5km, did one set of stairs and 3(!!) pull-ups.
So join me! What are you going to do today to move your bod?
Day two of gushing over my friends. @florahue not only makes my favourite facial oil (honestly the only skin care product I couldn't live without, and the only routine I've ever stuck to - it's called Celeste and it's a dream). But she has also created this logo that is everything I want this brand to be! Looking at it makes me feel strong, empowered, badass and feminine.
Overcoming digestive issues, skin problems, hormone imbalances or adrenal fatigue is only a part of the puzzle when it comes to our health.
None of it matters if we don't also feel in control of our bodies and comfortable in our skin afterwards.
THIS is what Move With Guts means to me, and this image reflects that to a T. And it means even more that it was designed by an incredibly kind hearted and true to herself woman like you Kristen 💕
I'm often in awe of the creativity of my friends and their badass personal projects that make me glow with inspiration.
Galaxy Crew is massively clever and hilarious and I feel giddy about being even just a small part of it. Hanging out and recording voices in a cabin in the woods for the past few days was a blast (just look at how much fun they're having!) Please hurry up and finish it because I'm just too excited.
AND PRETTY PLEASE don't ever recast me

This is me shovelling sauerkraut into my face like it's my day job. And let me tell you why:
With my inflammatory gut, I notice a huge difference in how I feel when I incorporate fermented foods into my diet like sauerkraut and kombucha!
If you have a bowel disease, IBS, food intolerances, or have gone through a round (or two) of antibiotics, probiotics are even more essential to reinoculate that good bacteria!
Less bloating, less cramping, improved energy, better nutrient absorption and a nice boost to the immune system are all great perks along with how incredible these foods taste (especially when you make them at home...more on that to come!). So don't be shy! Stock up on some good bacteria and feed your GUT.
