One morning, just a couple days before the LA wildfires even started, I woke up with this prayer. 2017 has been a traumatic year, from the devastation of natural disasters, horrific shootings, and political divide.
Many of us have had personal heartbreak and struggles in this year as well, and the burden feels so heavy. The heartbreak feels too often.
I can’t wrap my head around these events, but I can get on my knees and pray to the God who comforts, who strengthens and who restores. He is a God of love and peace despite the fires we face in this lifetime. I know some may ask why would a perfect and loving God allow these events? We are in a broken world and He is not the author of pain. He’s just not. That’s why He endured pain with us, to set us free through the selfless sacrifice of Jesus. It’s hard to wrap my head around this humility but I’m grateful, so very grateful.
And so when we have days where we feel our hearts can’t take much more, I pray we can stand stronger, love harder and shine brighter. ❤️
Um...today was quite interesting. Went to church and right after as we were driving to grab a bite to eat, we slow down to let a guy cross in front of us, and he flips us off! Why!? No clue. Then we go run errands and are trying to park in a parking lot. Many were aggressive and unfriendly. Man it was pretty disheartening how people can sometimes act. Especially this season (well really any season) when we should be filled with love, kindness and putting others first. Made me sad, but luckily my hubs and I stayed calm, laughed it off and still had a fun day together! 🌲❤️ (Shared on IG stories)
AND bringing this cutie pie back into my life this season!! 🥧 It’s my #glutenfree Cranberry Apple Christmas Pie! Topped with flowers 🌸 (of course) & Christmas pie cutters from @williamssonoma! You can find recipe on my blog - link in profile! xo

Overnight oats are my jam 🥣 they are so quick and easy to make 🙌🏼 plus so many fun flavors and toppings you can create!
Here’s a basic recipe for you:
1/2 heaping cup rolled oats
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl or mason jar. Cover with plastic wrap or lid, and place in fridge overnight. Take out in the morning, add fun toppings and enjoy!
Who else loves a good bowl of overnight oats? 🙋🏻♀️ what are some of your favorite seasonal toppings? On this bowl I added pears 🍐 , pomegranate seeds and persimmons! Hope you have a great day ❤️✨
Sunday plans ☕️🌲🤶🏻 // homemade peppermint bark chocolate donuts will now be on repeat again this year 🍩 you can find my recipe for these holiday treats on @glitterguide ❤️ happy Sunday to you! Here’s to soaking up one last day of rest✨
11 years ago on Thanksgiving Day, my sweet father was diagnosed with brain cancer. I remember it like it was yesterday and yet at the same time, it’s all pretty blurry. I flew home from Chicago to visit my parents for the holiday and knew immediately something was wrong with my dad when they picked me up from the airport. My mom said it just started that day. We took him to the ER as we thought it was a stroke. They ran tests and the following day we found out his diagnosis. The worst you can hear.
3 1/2 months later he went to Heaven ❤️ I don’t share this as a sad story, I share this for those who struggle during the holidays with missing someone. I share this to let you know how deeply I understand. I share this in the midst of all the food, fashion, and décor posts (not that those are bad- clearly all about the food) but so that your hurting heart doesn’t get forgotten. That you know someone out there relates.
And despite the unfortunate date his diagnosis fell on, I can still say to you, I love this holiday. God has healed my heart so much through the loss of my father and allowed me to still look at thanksgiving and be overwhelmingly grateful. Because of the father I did have and who I currently have in my life. For the blessings big and small that God provides and for the love I feel from God daily.
Now, on a lighter note .. to discuss these pies ☺️🥧 mini gluten-free pumpkin pies for the Thanksgiving win 🍂🍁 recipe via direct link in profile. xo
