You are loved (even if it's just by this older man, checking in for his flight on a busy Monday morning in Bangkok).

My first encounter with Santa Muerte, folk saint of death and leader of the world's fastest growing religion in #mexicocity Santa Muerte has gathered some 10-20 million followers in little more than 15 years. She is, however, no saint of the Catholic Church. The Vatican has condemned SM worship as 'satanic'. For Pope Francis, she is a 'macabre symbol' of nacros and the nefarious deeds of those on the dark fringes of society. Her connection to the criminal underworld is undeniable; she is a popular deity in Mexican prisons where Santa Muerte shrines adorn jail cells. But as the 'patron saint' of healing, protection and safe delivery to the afterlife, her followers are mostly the urban working class, disillusioned by the dominant Catholic Church and its established saints, who fail to deliver them from poverty. Santa Muerte is seen as all inclusive, protector of the LGBTQIA, the sex workers, the young, the disenfranchised, the lost souls...... For every Santa Muerte I passed in Mexico City, there was Saint Jude, the true Catholic Saint of lost souls. To counteract her spreading influence, Saint Jude is carefully erected just metres in front of Mexico's Santa Muertes in a symbolic 'face-off' between the established Church and the swelling folk religion of Santa Muerte. St Jude is one of 10,000 Catholic Saints. He recently became the only Saint to receive a feast day every single month of the year, a clear attempt to bolster his following. Indeed, he remains Mexico's most popular Saint......... He may speak to lost souls, but he cannot speak to Mexico's deeply buried reverence for the dead. The 'bony woman' on the other hand, reminds us of our own morality and the duality between life and death. Despite the Pope's fierce condemnation of this 'devil worship', attempts to shut down her sprouting churches and demolish her shrines, the lost souls are increasingly drifting in her direction. Santa Muerte is now Mexico's second most popular Saint. Here she is with empty gaze locked on St Jude, haunting the Church. #mexico #santamuerte

In Tokyo, enjoying a v hipster Japanese tea ceremony, performed in a laboratory of sorts by women in lab coats. After selecting your green tea (from a comprehensive menu of options), the v scientific process of making green tea begins.. and lasts 1-2 hours. The tea was good. #onlyinjapan #tokyolove #sakuratea

Here is my uncle, Brendan, and his English wife, Molly. Molly, my aunt, is both a few years younger than me and mother to my 47th first cousin, Tom. That's right - 47. Just did the math. Here he is at two weeks old with my 2nd nephew, also Tom. #elmers #settingrecords #bestfam #tomlove
