As in my belly... 🐖
⚠WARNING LONG POST⚠:
#Curcumin is a #polyphenol . I don't want to bore anyone so basically in short it is an anti-inflammatory & antioxidant and you should probably take it as it may be beneficial for you health but note: not all supplements are the same! There may be variations in the concentration/quality but they may also need to be combined with another compound for them to be bioavailable (ability to be absorbed in the body). THE DETAILS:
Inflammation has been shown to be the initial culprit (via several mechanisms) of many chronic diseases including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, asthma, colitis, arthritis, epilepsy, psoriasis...to name a few. 🙄 🤓The "some may find boring" stuff:
TNF-alpha (tumour necrosis factor) [Sidenote: Necrosis is the death of cells & living tissue] is a signalling protein that induces inflammation. The regulation of TNF-a is dependent on NF-kB (nuclear factor) which is activated by environmental pollutants, smoking, high glucose, stress - physical, psychological etc., viruses and gram-negative bacteria. Curcumin has been shown to block NF-kB activation. If NF-kB activation is blocked, TNF-a is in turn blocked. 🏋🏃Due to decreased inflammation, it may increase recovery time for athletes. I definitely find that I recovery from training much faster - As well as positive differences in my mood (haters will disagree 😋). There are way more beneficial ingredients in @rosnutrition #omniflex but I will do separate posts on them.
