In a parliamentary vote last night, Tory MPs were ordered by their party leaders not to take part in a vote on the rollout of the Universal Credit benefit regime. That's because the government knew it would lose.
A Labour motion to "pause and fix" the system was passed 299 to zero - but will have no immediate effect.
It's another sign of the Tories' weakness. But the debate has highlighted attention on the brutality of the Universal Credit scheme.
Universal Credit brings evictions, increased poverty, debt and despair.
