ARUGULA // an energy booster. •

Paired this crunchy Asian salad with some pad thai the other night and holy moly was it awesome. Shoutout to my girl Julia who found the recipe! This salad was eaten solo but I now want to pile it into a taco or underneath some salmon. Needless to say, it was awesome. •

I hear all too often that people just don't have time to make breakfast, let alone a healthy one.
Have you thought about how long it takes to wait in line at Starbucks or at the drive-through? I guarantee you it's longer than 2 minutes.
This morning I decided to time how long it took me to grab all necessary ingredients and make this mornings breakfast. This nutrient-packed bowl took me 2 minutes and 39 seconds to make (and probably less time to inhale it). If that is still not enough time to take for yourself, then that is a whole other conversation we need to be having 😉 #selfcare •

My Italian took charge for dinner the other night and it was the best pasta sauce to date. He used local venison for the pasta sauce and all ingredients were fresh! We even had it again last night for dinner (check out my insta stories to see!) I'd give you the recipe but then I'd have to kill you ;)

Happy #meatlessmonday ☀️ how are you guys celebrating today? The Buddha bowl is a staple in our house for many reasons. You can make them any which way you please, they are protein-packed, and they're just so easy to make. Oh, and delicious! Today's factoid: for every burger skipped, you can save enough water to drink for the next 3 years (c/o @meatlessmonday ). ☝🏼😮

Yesterday marks my ☝🏼 year of going to the @urbanharvesthouston farmers market! Watching the seasons change thru local produce truly has been so so neat. Not only that but I've been able to enjoy eating seasonally, supporting our local sustainable farmers and getting to know some wonderful people. Visiting (almost) every Saturday has become my most favorite thing to do on the weekends. If you have never been, I highly highly recommend it ☀️

Can anybody say that they hate a cutting board full of delicious snacks when they arrive to a dinner party? Me neither. I absolutely love creating these when we have peeps over and I had so much fun with this one. Our visitors were vegan so the staple purchases of cured meats and dank artisan cheeses were a no-go. Some new fillers were forced and I was so jazzed with how it turned out.

I hear too often that someone just didn't have time or felt they were helping their waistline by skipping it. PSA: breakfast is your most important meal of the day.
In one recent study, people who ate breakfast as their largest meal lost an average of 17.8 pounds over three months.
The other participants consumed the same number of total calories per day, but ate most of their calories at dinner, according to the study published in July in the journal Obesity.
The large-dinner group only lost an average of 7.3 pounds each over the same time period. And no, coffee does not count as a food group ;)
