We’ve been a bit quiet recently, so apologies from thewellnessmedic team, we’re busy scurrying around organising things for the new year and collating our list for events in 2018!
So exciting all the opportunities that are popping up, and Thankyou all for being so involved and so keen to be involved! ❤️
I hope everyone is scheduling in some ME time over this busy Christmas period, we can all get hung up and thrown into a whirlwind of busy Christmas parties, shopping, indulgence and it can be really really tricky to just take some time. Stick to some of your good habits, and not to punish yourself for having that extra mince pie👍🏻 ~
Maybe just sit down and have that extra hour to yourself this evening, listen to a podcast, read, go for a wintery walk (be careful of the Ice though! ❄️). Our lovely @the_wholehealth_doctor is away enjoying a much needed break in Fiji at the moment and sent us this snap of our thewellnessmedic bag sunning it up on the beach. 🌞🌞

Making a tassels is very easy, therapeutic & gives poorly people some purpose to get them through this shitty time. Making something in the knowledge that it's going towards a great cause is empowering & motivating. Just what the doctor ordered!

Evening to all you lovely people, as part of us spreading the word about thewellnessmedic and promoting wellness in healthcare. Hope everybody is wrapped up warm in this chilly weather, and looking after themselves. As so many people have said, when it gets cold and wintery it can be easy to forget that gym session or fob off that run. Have another takeaway inside rather than cooking. All of which is perfectly normal in moderation, but if you’ve picked up good habits recently don’t let Xmas take them away from you!

As I said on the previous post, thewellnessmedic is expanding! Not just in the UK but to ever further afield.
That’s right, we’re planning on hosting an event in Sydney, Australia in 2018!
Our associate director living and working as a Doctor in Sydney has commented on how much wellness and health of doctors is a huge focus, we decided it would be a great place for us to launch thewellnessmedic! I’ve been told that in one hospital the junior doctors are given a vegetable patch to look after, and morning walks down the Beach! DREAMY!🐟 👩🏼⚕️👋🏻
We’re planning our first event March 2018, and guess what WERE LOOKING FOR SPEAKERS! 🎉
If you live in Sydney or near Sydney and want to help healthcare professionals realise the importance of looking after themselves in all aspects of our lives then do get in contact! We really are so overwhelmed by the response we’ve had in the uK and would love to share the same response and set up the same platform in Australia.

Today is a serious throwback Thursday from just over a week ago when we had our first thewellnessmedic event in Brighton.
Still buzzing on an absolute high from the event and can’t believe the response we got, thankyou to all you kind people for your emails/txts/ phone calls and chats since the event! ❤️❤️

So.... I’ve been thinking. We’re all bombarded with what we should be doing to make ourselves feel better, what we should be doing to look after ourselves. Change our diet, do more exercise, make time for ourselves, meditate, yoga, swimming, work, sleep better! There’s a lot of advice out there on what we SHOULD be doing to make ourselves feel better, and this can be massively overwhelming and may actually cause a negative impact on us. ~
If you set yourself a goal to change your diet, do more exercise and try and sleep better all at once, by not being able to achieve these, your going to feel bad that you havnt managed to do all these things and get yourself into a self perpetuating cycle. 😥
So why not just swap 1-4-1? By this I mean, change one thing for another. For me coffee is my achilles heel, I know I drink too much coffee! ☕️As @missnutritionist knows!
So my task this week is to have one coffee in the morning, followed by every time I want a coffee in the day to have water. Something I definitely don’t drink enough of! Check out @the_wholehealth_doctor post about the benefits of water.
Swap one of your bad habits for one good one. Don’t try and do it all at once! ~

Don’t be hard on yourselves, introducing anything new takes time. It’s like wearing in a pair of amazing heels 👠 you have to give them time before they feel comfy and normal for you. The same with your good habits, and healthy changes. Introduce them in slowly until it becomes habit for you!

Are you a doctor who has seen so many colleagues leave/ be off sick long term from stress? Are you a nurse who can’t remember the last time there wasn’t someone off sick due to stress and burnout?
ALL THIS THINGS ARE REAL! And are happening right now.
Our wellnessmedic team would like to spread the word and importance of looking after yourself in the medical environment and want to give you some tools to do so!
