My view this morning... I'm waiting for the local clinic to open to get get my knee checked out. Online it said it opens at 7:30am but getting here it opens at 9:30 😕
So rather than go home and come back in an hour, I'm just chilling at the local Starbucks with an Americano with steamed heavy cream and enjoying this stolen moment to myself. 😊
Happy hump day🙌
This is how I'm rolling this morning!
Coffee with a keto friendly peanut butter chocolate sea cookie!
I felt like making cookies last night and used Swerve to sweeten and choczero chocolate 'cuz well...chocolate! 😋
Let me know if you want the recipe!
I fell into a funk this past week from minor set backs. This so applies to me and I need to remember all the wonderful things rather than focusing on the bad.
Slay the Monday!

I'm catching up on a stop drop selfie and stop drop and chug tags from @ketojourneycanada and @canadianketogeeks with my ultimate fave coffee mug which is just about 15 years old that I picked up at a chemistry conference. I love the size, shape, handle, etc and would be heartbroken if I lost it or broke it. Do you have a mug like that?
I'm drinking a cup of pumpkin spiced coffee with an ounce of cream and a shot of SF pumpkin cheesecake syrup. Great on this cool autumn morning!
I've been feeling really mentally off this week. It started when working out and my right knee cap almost popped out when doing lunges. I quickly stopped before bearing down on it. There wasn't any swelling but since then it's been achy and rough going up stairs.
I had this problem quite frequently when I was a teenager and smaller. It would pop out just by walking and I'd pop it in again. All the doc told me then is that I need to strengthen my quads. I've been looking up patellar tracking strengthening exercises.
So it's been on recovery, I've tried to do some exercises like squats but it wasn't ready yet. This is one ache /pain that shouldn't be pushed through.
It's been really bothering/frustrating me and have been feeling discouraged that I'm behind. Coupled with a few other things going on right now that I've eaten things that I really, really shouldn't have and put on a ton of water weight.
So... I need to get back up and dust myself off and focus. I did some test squats this morning and it felt good. I just need to find a knee brace but I can tape it up until then and take it easy on the knee.
Ok! Enough about me! I want to hear what wonderful things you're doing today to cheer me up 😊
I have so many fave recipes from the Ketogenic Pressure Cooker cookbook and Zoodles Bolognese on page 52 is no exception.
Hearty, flavourful, comforting.
You don't need to use zoodles, you can use spaghetti squash, miracle noodles or just eat it with a spoon 😋
These jalapeno turkey bites from Stryve Foods are just da bomb! I've had to wrestle it away from my husband and coworkers who wanted to try them.
A huge thank you to Stryve for sending me a wonderful package of protein packed snacks to try. They're different from the usual protein bars and shakes.
They remind me of pepperoni sticks but with a wonderful spicy bite.
These have the least carbs with 3g per ounce (28g), 11g protein. It states on the package to eat it within 72 hours but it hardly lasted that long!
They just came out with biltong bites too which I'm eager to try! 😋
Caught the early 6:30pm showing right after work so needed something to eat.
I love going to the VIP theatre where you can have supper or other snacks from the traditional at your theatre seat.
This is their caesar salad without croutons it comes with bacon and I added chicken. The chicken was okay, I don't think I would add the it next time. Overall the salad was good. I did also have a beer and indulged in some popcorn.
The movie was good. I was hoping it would be be scary. The scary bits were meh. But I LOVE really good scary movies! Suspense, thrillers most definitely. Gore, meh...if it's used well for effect I'm in. Gratuitous just for the sake of having it then no.
Any recommendations on good scary movies?
Dinner today is my version of Ma Po tofu. I loved having it every time I went out for Chinese food.
I haven't had it in a long time but was craving it. It usually just has pork but I threw whatever I had in the fridge in it. It usually has a thick sauce from using cornstarch but you can use xanthan gum. I didn't bother thickening it. I did though add in some oyster sauce, I figured 1 tbs with 5g carbs divided by 4 servings isn't too bad!
So there's about...
1 tbs olive oil
1lb ground beef
1/2 lb pork strips
2 Thai sausages, cooked and sliced
1 package medium tofu, drained, cubed
1 tsp chili paste
2 tsp siracha
2 tbs liquid aminos
1/2 onion chopped
1/2 cup stock or water
1/3 cup peas
1 tbs oyster sauce (optional as 1 tbs has 5g carbs)
1 tbs xanthan gum (optional)
1. Heat oil in a fry pan. Sauté onions until soft.
2. Brown ground beef and pork strips. About 5 minutes.
3. Add in stock, chili paste, siracha, liquid aminos, oyster sauce if desired. Mix and warm for a few minutes.
4. Add in sausage, tofu and peas. Gently mix in and cover. Let simmer for 5 minutes to warm through.
5. Optional, mix xanthan gum with about a tablespoon of olive oil. Then whisk into the sauce.
6. Serve in bowls.
Yum, yum, yum! I haven't calculated macros on this yet. 😋
Hi there! I’ve had a few new friends in the last little while and I thought I’d introduce myself during this #throwbackthursday if I hadn’t personally welcomed you which I’ve been doing whenever I can.
I’m Aileen and have been ketogenic for the last 26 months. I was overweight had high blood pressure and was worried about various ailments, both my parents have had heart surgery and father had a stroke. I had my wakeup call when someone I knew had passed away from cancer 6 months after retiring.
Hitting my mid 40’s, if I didn’t do anything quick I’d be faced with a future of diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and who knows what else.
On the left, I was two weeks into the ketogenic diet. I had no clue whether the diet would work for me. I had lost a few pounds at that point and was still uncertain. I had bloodwork taken every 3 months to make sure this “crazy” butter and bacon eating diet really was working.
On the right, two years later. 50 pounds lighter, down a shoe size and down to a size 4 from a size 16. IBS and what I thought was lactose intolerance is gone. Blood pressure and all blood work is normal. I also just found out that I have the metabolic age of 18.
This diet has now become a way of life for me. I feel absolutely great. It’s really humbling to see people around me take their own health seriously and change for the better.
I love seeing people getting healthier, cheering on the sidelines and helping wherever I can.
DM me if you need help.
This is my story and I can’t wait to see yours!
Trust the process and keep going!
Meat balls with a tomato cream sauce for lunch. I had it in my freezer for a month or so.
I totally need to eat out of my freezer. It's jam packed with wonderful food and can't fit anything else in it. I don't have a chest freezer either so no picking up any bulk pack sales for me!
This is sure delicious though! 😋
September is PCOS awareness month as well as gynecological cancer month.
I've had amenorreah for as long as I can remember and really, really bad acne on my back and chest...I could go on checking each and every item this list.
I don't remember if doctors suspected I had PCOS when I was 17 or said that I could get it when I got older. Nonetheless, I've struggled with it for a very long time.
I wish I had known about the ketogenic diet then it would have saved me many years of grief and many have found that the diet helps manage some of the symptoms. Regardless, I'm just so glad to have found it at all.
Thank you @ketoshell86 for posting this! --------------------- Regrann from @ketoshell86 - This is not an all inclusive list of symptoms by any means, but if you have some of these symptoms you may need to be evaluated for PCOS. Notice that cystic ovaries are a symptom. They are NOT the cause! This is an endocrine disorder with no known cause. The hormonal imbalance can cause a multitude of symptoms that will present in differently in each individual.
Back at the mechanics today. Gotta find out the cause of a shorted out headlight and a leaky transmission. I don't think they're related!
So I'm just chillin' here in the shop, there's no coffee shops close by so I brought my own!
It's just an Americano with heavy cream.
Have an amazing day! 😘💕
Gotta love the local sausage shop! 😄
Liver sausage, Thai sausage, spicy pepperoni sticks and 4 ribeye steaks 😍
I keep going to the big grocery stores and often forget about this wonderful little shop where many things are made in house!
Is there a place where you pick up your specialty proteins where you live?
