Posting a 2nd time today to share a kinda fun story. 🤓The other day I was walking along a trail on the Battlefield and this gorgeous red-tailed hawk swooped in and perched on this military sign right in front of me. IMAGE 1 was taken right after he/she landed. As you can see, from where I was standing when she first landed the background was a building. Not good. 🤦🏼♀️ I needed to work my way around to get the trees in the background. I slowly backed away from her and moved to my left. IMAGE 2 shows the trees in the background but she also turned her back on me. Gr. IMAGE 3 shows exactly what she thought of me. 🙈 IMAGE 4 shows her bum as she retreated. 🦅🍑 So cool of her to swoop in close like that. I was shocked because there were so many people on the trail in that immediate area.
Sharing something different this Saturday. Belted Kingfishers are always a challenge for me. They are impossible to sneak up on and their flight is fast and can be erratic. I saw this one approaching and was set up for a perched bird shot but he never did perch. Instead he approached the tree limb then quickly changed direction. This image is not without its flaws. It is far from being great and I acknowledge that, but it is getting closer to what I hope to someday achieve in an image of this species. The challenge continues.
