The personal training service that I offer goes way beyond that 1hr that we spend together during our sessions. I actually work very hard for my clients, and those of you who train with me know and have seen that firsthand ☺
Here are some of the ways in which I do this: ✔️We stay in touch between sessions
✔️I follow up with you the day after your workouts to see how you’re doing
✔️I’m your resource: you can message me at any time with questions
✔️I will message YOU at various times to make sure you’re staying on track
✔️You get a sweet looking training log with all of your workouts, and pictures for each exercise – TO KEEP! (and yes, I work and prep those workouts outside of our sessions, I don't just show up and give you a bunch of random exercises)
✔️I tell you why we are doing certain exercises, so you can learn along the way
✔️I do what I say I’m going to do – because so many people don’t and that drives me crazy!
✔️If you ask me a question, I’ll spend the time find the answer for you
✔️I make your workouts fit your life - even if that means putting together something completely different, just for you!
Because doing all of this that puts the "personal" back into personal training! 👊 You aren't spending all this money just to have someone show up, count your reps and give you the same workout they gave to the client right before you. You are making this investment into your health so you can learn, work hard, and get something tangible in return 😁
You've picked me, and I take that very seriously! So this is my commitment to all of you - current and future clients - to work hard for you so that you can be the best you can be!
Check out the link in the bio to see how we can work together! 🙏
If you want to experience the longest minute of your life, just do the plank!
But seriously, the plank is awesome, so here's what you need to know: ✔major uscles worked: shoulders, core (front and back), glutes, quads
✔intensity levels: on your feet or on your knees, depending on your fitness level; variations include lifting an arm or a leg, which adds the need to balance on only three limbs, increasing the difficulty
✔breathing: keep breathing throughout and try to relax; cringing and grititng your teeth won't help keep you in place
✔how long: 30s to start, working your way up to 1min
So if you're not planking - you should!

[exercising when you're over 45]
One of my core beliefs is that exercise is for everyone, regardless of age. In fact, being active becomes even more important as you get older. I'm working on 2 new blog posts that will explore various fitness techniques that you can apply if you're over 45, and then offer some practical advice to get you started! 💪👍☺ And, if you're 45, tell me: what are you struggling with regarding fitness? What do you want to learn more about? I will incorporate answers to your questions in my upcoming blog posts! 😁
For everyone else, today is just another Friday before a long weekend but for me today is a very special day that marks the end of a 5 and a half year journey and the beginning of a new adventure.
Today was my last day at work.
I have decided to leave the corporate world of STEMCELL to fully focus on my business endeavor(s). I will be working on Tone Every Zone full time - training my clients but also focusing on many business aspects which I haven't had a chance to explore yet. I will also be putting together a workshop on project management for fitness professionals and I am just stoked to finally be able to work on these projects full time!
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped make this dream a reality because I certainly didn't do it on my own! I owe so much to so many people, from my family who continuously puts up with my crazy schedule, to my amazing clients who chose to train with me - I am humbled that you've picked me to guide you on your training journey!
A shout-out also to my STEMCELL colleagues who have been such a pleasure to work with - truly some of the smartest people I've ever met. For the record, there are people missing in these pictures. I've worked with many more!
Today I move into the unknown, take the road less traveled and look to the future with confidence. Today I stand on my own two feet as a business owner, having taken a risk, and not afraid of failure, ready for whatever comes ☺
It's a gorgeous summer day New West peeps! 😀❤ It's also really hot!! 😌 so here are some things to keep in mind for your workouts: .
✔ Be weary of the toasty gym. Unless it's air conditioned and unless heat is your friend, don't go to the gym when it gets really hot. Go in the early morning or evening
. ✔ Don't be a hero. You won't be able to push as hard and that's NORMAL. Take breaks when you need them. And yes, you will need more of them. It doesn't mean that you're unfit all of a sudden. It just means it's hot and your body needs to work extra hard! .
✔Hydrate. No explanation needed. You'll need more of that H2O . ✔ You may or may not want to skip the cardio. If you're new to working out, doing cardio in this heat may not be the best idea. Weight training may be your best friend for a while. If you choose to do cardio, again do it early morning or late evening
. ✔ Stick to it. Deciding to not work out because it's hot is just an EXCUSE. There are tons of things you can do - even going for a walk counts. There's also an outdoor fitness circuit in Queen's park that will get your blood moving in no time.
So there you have it! Stay safe and do your workouts!! 😄💪 #toneeveryzone#personaltraining#inspiringfitness
Before you start talking about the specifics of weight loss there's first a serious mind shift that needs to happen. ☺
And without it you're not going to succeed.😲 So in my latest post I share the mindset that I see in my clients who are successful in their weight loss journey. Check out the link in the profile! 👆
Is this smoke filled weather making you feel like a workout is just impossible? Well, it turns out there are still things you can do that don't get your heart rate up and are still important for your overall health. .
✔ grab a mat and stretch
✔ grab a foam roll and roll those tight muscles ✔ grab a tennis ball or spikey ball and go for some deep tissue myofascial release
Now you can no longer use the smoke as an excuse 😄 You're welcome! 😉
This evening's stroll through the neighborhood ended with a surprise!
These are walnuts! 😄 fresh off the lovely walnut tree in our neighbordhood. The fruit is green, and the walnut is hidden inside. Getting to the edible core is the fun part: you have to go through the green skin (whose juices stain the skin brown - fun fact!), then crack the walnut open, and finally peel the skin around the core (otherwise it tastes bitter)
It's all worth it though. The taste of the fresh walnut is nothing like what you can get in the store! 😊
I love the little treasures that our neighborhood has to offer! 💖
